Played in glorious sunshine in Grangegoddan, it was the home side that prevailed in this round seven league encounter. The Seasiders minus seven of the players that played in their last outing in the Championship knew this would be a tough encounter and so it proved. The Visitors got the opening point of the game through a point from play from Jack Reynolds. The home side then rattled of the next 5 points to lead 0-5 to 0-1. The Seasiders then had the next two scores through Conor O’Byrne and a second Jack Reynolds point. The Home side then got a point and following an intercepted pass they scored a breakaway goal to leave the score at 1-6 to 0-3. The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges in the 2nd half, and with Conor O’Byrne closing in on goal he was unceromoniosly hauled down; with a free kick and yellow card awarded, the free was duly converted by the Seasiders. With the score at 1-7 to 0-6 the home side rattled of another goal and were run out easy winners in the end, however there are plenty of positives for the depleted Cilles team whom were up against a strong Gaeil Colmcilles team, with Séamus Mattimoe the key marksman on the day. Up next for the Cilles in the league is Wolfe Tones.
