Drogheda Indo Team & player of Year Vote

We’re very proud to say that we’ve been nominated in both categories in the Drogheda Independent sports awards for 2016. For the outstanding year that we’ve had, we’re both delighted with the recognition from our local press and excited at the prospect of winning another title!

As a club, we’ve reached the final at all levels throughout the club in 2016, which culminated in titles for our Mens team – Corn na Boinne, Intermediate county champions and Intermediate Leinster champions, our Ladies team – Junior A County champions, Minor men county champions and minor ladies county champions.

We’ve won team of the year already from the Royal County Year book and the title from the Drogheda Independent would be the icing on the cake.

While its really been a team effort, one player has stood out in his accomplishments this year – James Conlon, and is up for the award of Sportstar of the Year. James has participated on both the winning mens and captained the winning minor team to victory, his performances make him stand out. His equaliser forced the extra time in the intermediate semi-final and he scored 4 points in the intermediate final, winning him the man of the match title from the HoganStand. He scored 10 points in the minor final and again won man of the match for this game. He also wears the green and yellow of our county jersey and helped the Meath minors to a win over our neighbours, Dublin, by scoring 5 points.

He’s already won Hoganstand Intermediate footballer of the year and we know we’re going to see extra ordinary things from young James. Well done on an exceptional season James, we’re proud of you.

Help us win these two awards by buying the local paper and voting often with its. Cut off for votes is the 26th January @ 11am.
