Message from the Chairman

Good morning everyone

Welcome to the  first of our regular updates which will give a very quick overview of the week gone and week ahead which we hope you will find useful

Firstly a big thank you to everyone who supported the Club AGM last Monday 15th Jan.  It was an historic AGM in that we formally adopted the “One Club” structure to  recognise our Ladies Football and Camogie offerings as part of the club.  The occasion also was a poignant one too as our dear friend and colleague, Oliver Kavanagh stepped down as Chairman after steering the club through a period of sustained growth and success.  “Jackser” was honoured by receiving an honorary Life Membership of the club.    As new Chairman I am acutely aware of the responsibility bestowed on me by everyone and that I have very big boots to fill but as I said I will do everything I can to help the club continue to grow and develop.  To that end I look forward to meeting with and working with everyone in the year ahead.

A LOOK BACK ON THE WEEK JUST GONE

This week saw our hurling teams back in action at the Gormanstown Indoor Leagues and it is wonderful to see our young hurlers grow and progress.  Good luck for the weeks ahead!.  The Cooney and Corn Cois Farraige competitions also commenced and progress can be followed on www.cilles.com and the Team app ‘Schools GAA – East Meath’ there were some very exciting tussles.

We also took delivery of some new equipment for our Multipurpose room facility.  This will really help our teams over the coming weeks, months and years and well done to all involved.  Gwen Lanigan and Pat Kelly represented the club at the most launch of the new phase of the “Healthy Club” initiative.   I also took the opportunity to watch our ladies teams train under new coach John Mulvanny on the astro and its fair to say that it promises to be a great year for the ladies team.  Enjoy the year ahead everyone!

Most exciting and inspiring  of all perhaps  watching the great effort being put in by our OSKARS participants.  We had Car washes, cake sales, new camps being launched and wristbands all on sale for this great effort.  Not one to sit back I’ve decided to jump right out of my own comfort zone and commit to the OSKARS myself.  I can’t sing, I can’t dance and I most definitely can’t act but we’ll all have a blast ! I must be mad as I also signed up to Lisa & Kelly’s Operation Transformation programme every Wednesday night !  Please support all our OSKARS participants and if you want to join then contact Ciara on 087-6483176

On a sad note, the Power, Lynch, Hodgins and Lawless families all suffered the loss of a loved one and they are all in our thoughts and prayers at this time.  Ar Dheis go raibh a ainim

THE WEEK AHEAD

This is a busy week and I’d encourage everyone to get involved.  We have two coach education courses and the Player Pathway event in Piltown is a MUST for everyone.  If we are to continue to grow and develop then all groups need to be represented at this event.  We are also launching our OSKARS event this Friday night where the movies and casting will be announced.  Do not miss this event which promises to be great fun, with Niall Bennett doing DJ and Sean Perry hosting the night.  And then on Saturday night we move into competitive action as our Men’s A team host the famed Navan O Mahonys in Piltown.  Please come down and get behind your team.
