Message from the Chairman

A look back at the week just past

I had the pleasure of attending an excellent ladies agm on Monday last.  This was a very positive and energising meeting and our ladies teams can all look forward to a superb 2018.  My heartiest congratulations to all the committee who stood up and volunteered for 2018.  I look forward to working with you all during the year.  A special word to the outgoing secretary Eamon McPeake who stepped down from the role after a long period of unstinting service.

The week also saw the scripts for the Oskars issuing and what a buzz that was for everyone.  Hopefully they have all being practicing their lines from the rehearsals tonight.  I am delighted to announce that local business INDAVER IRELAND has come on board as our main sponsor for the oskars night  and we are indebted to them for their support of the club.  Tickets will be issued in the very near future.  We have two big Oskars fundraisers this weekend so make sure and come out and support the guys !

We were also in leinster league u13 and u15 boys  action with wins over Dublin opposition.  Unfortunately our senior men’s A team went down to their second league defeat following the long journey to Moynalvey on Sunday.  our U17 boys enter competitive  action this weekend when they travel to play Ratoath.  Following our u16 double success in 2017 here’s hoping the boys can continue their good form against our old rivals.  Our senior men make the short trip to play neighbours St Patricks in Round 3 of the league.  This game is fixed for 7pm on Saturday in direct opposition to the Meath game but we ask everyone to come out and get behind our lads

Over the weekend we undertook remedial works on the pitches.  From a cursory look on websites and fixtures you will see that many club and county venues are closed at the moment and we hope that this work will stand us in good stead before we hit a glut of fixtures over the coming weeks.  Following these works the main pitches in Piltown and Seafield remain closed to training and friendly  matches.  I would also remind all coaches that given the conditions that teams refrain from training involving sharp twists and turns and heavy running in soft areas.  This causes significant damage that can be very expensive to repair and disrupts other teams

Well done to the 3rd class teams who were in blitz action and yesterday the TY’s of Col na hInse who had a great time hosting the 1st classes of Scoil Olibhear Naofa in an indoor blitz

Finally, well done also to Graham and Ben who were part of the Meath team that defeated Clare in the National League on Sunday  and best wishes on Saturday v Cavan
