To all coaches of teams over 12 years:
“Sorry for the inconvenience but due to a clash with the “Be Kind To Your Mind” workshop which is about managing anxiety in teens, something I highly recommend all parents and coaches to attend. the Wednesday 23rd of May athletic development session has been moved to the following Wednesday. So the dates as follows ate Monday 21st and Wednesday the 30th.
Níall Kane will be running an Athletic Development workshop called – ” Teaching the Key Movements”, with the help of some of our senior players and former Munster rugby & Cilles senior player Niall Ronan. This will be on Monday 21st of May from 7-9pm and Wednesday 23rd from 7-9pm. The workshop will cover.
1- how to teach the squat, lunge,step up, plank, push up, glute bridge, inverted row, t-plane etc.
2 – how to progress/regress each excercise
3 – movement analysis – observing where the exercise is breaking down
4- field based programme planning and they’ll touch on gym based programme planning.
5- correction/flexibility exercise’s
6- testings your knowledge
Each coach will come away with hard copies of the key coaching cues, the knowledge of why these are important, how to comfortably coach these exercises and how to adapt the exercises based on an individual players needs.
At least 1 coach from each age group is expected to attend. Most coaches are doing these exercises at training anyway so its important our players are doing them correctly otherwise its a waste of time and its important we can spot and fix the movements.
