Royal County 5km/10km (Pre-Registration closing 3rd May)

 

Bank Holiday Monday 7th May | 10.30am & 11am | Kells

Pre-Registration for the Royal County 5km/10km Run/Walk closes on Thursday 3rd May at midnight online. After this date, entry is only available from 9am on the day in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells. Early bird registration is €15 for 10km event and €10 for the 5km event. Cost includes t-shirt, refreshments and chip timing. Cost on the day is €20 for 10km and €15 for 5km. Cost is the same for all ages. T-shirts are on a first come, first served basis at sign in.

The event is organised by Meath LSP with the support of the Club Active Kells; Headfort Arms Hotel; St. Brigid’s AC; Kells Gardai; Kells Swimming Pool, Kells Municipal District, Civil Defence and local volunteers. The Royal County 5k/10k event is licensed by the Athletics Association of Ireland and is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities. Whereas participants under the age of 16 years are welcome, they must be accompanied at all times by an adult. The 10km event will start at 10.30am, with the 5km starting at 11am.

Royal County 5km/10km 2018 Secondary School challenge

 

The school that brings the most students to the start line will receive a set of 4 Indoor Athletics turning boards worth over €800. These turning boards are a very useful tool in PE and can help in the reduction of injury due to stopping suddenly when nearing a wall or turning around cones. Meath Heritage Cycle Tour – Online Registration NOW OPEN!

The 10th Sport Ireland Meath Heritage Cycle tour will take place over the weekend of 28th & 29th  July.

Online registration is now open! Early bird entry prices apply up until the 19th July.

The Sport Ireland Meath Heritage Cycle tour is made up of 3 distances this year: 11km Family Spin; 50km Tara Loop & 100km Royal Tour. The 11km, 50km & 100km distances remain the same as last year. As numbers have been falling in the 160km route in the last number of years the Committee has taken the decision to focus on the 11km, 50km & 100km routes this year.

Details of maps with elevation, food and water stops are available to download from our website. Those using smart or iphones will be able to download the maps to their phones – ensuring that they remain on route.

5km Colour Fun Run comes to Navan!!

Meath Comhairle na nÓg in association with Meath LSP & Jigsaw Meath, invite you to Navan’s FIRST EVER 5km Colour Fun Run on Sunday May 27th!

The 5km fun event will the held in Blackwater Park, Navan starting at 11am. Organisers plan to transform the park into a multi-coloured paradise. Meath Jigsaw’s Young People’s ambassador – GAA star Cillian O Sullivan  and representatives of Meath Comhairle na nÒg are keen to promote the idea that staying fit and healthy should be a fun and an enjoyable experience in everyone’s life.

Organisers are inviting people of all ages, families, individuals, runners, walkers, joggers etc  – to come along and participate is this fun event. All participants are required to wear sunglasses on the day.

Participants can either enter online @ www.meathsports.ie or on the day (registration from 10.15am in the park). Cost of entry is €5, discounts apply to family bookings. All proceeds are going to Jigsaw Meath. Jigsaw Meath provides a free and confidential youth mental health support service for young people aged 12–25. Comhairle na nÓg is the young people’s council of County Meath. It gives young people the chance to have their voices heard in both local and national decision making and policy.

School Sports Day Training

 

Wednesday 30th May | 3.30pm-6.30pm | St. Paul’s NS, Abbeylands, Navan.

 

Meath LSP organises school sports day training workshops for primary schools in the county. The sports day training involves a practical session and is designed to equip the participant with the knowledge and skills required to plan a safe and fun sports day.  The workshop will introduce participants to various activities that can be incorporated into their school day.

Training is open to teachers, staff and parents from primary schools in Meath. Participants will also receive the School Sports Day guidebook and other resource materials at training. The guidebook contains details on setting up a sports day and information on the various activities suitable for the day.

Disability Inclusion Training

 

Meath LSP in association with CARA are hosting a Disability Inclusion Training Course as part of the Community Sports Hub Navan. Disability Inclusion Training is an introduction level course designed to give participants ideas and inspiration to adapt their sport or physical activity sessions. It will assist participants to make their sessions more accessible and inclusive for children and adults with a disability.

When: Saturday 19th May

Time: 9am-3pm

Meath LSP in association with FAI, NYPD and An Garda Siochana will run Late Night League – Futsal in Navan which is open to anyone aged 12-15/16+ years.

Learn 2 Cycle Ashbourne

This 6 week programme aims to assist children with disabilities to learn to cycle independently. Due to demand 2 programmes will be held.
