U-9 Boys Treat Us To A Festival of Football

U-9 Boys Treat Us To A Festival of Football

Yesterday afternoon Piltown was the centre of the Gaelic Football world for our 2010 boys team and 6 visiting clubs who came together to make up an exciting 12-team Festival of Football.  We welcomed St Josephs & Glen Emmets from Louth, Carrick Emmets from Monaghan, Skerries Harps & Fingallions from Dublin, and Gaeil Colmcille joined our Cilles boys in representing Meath.

The huge team of volunteers who organised this event experienced heart palpitations in the morning as thunderous rain threatened to spoil the party, but thankfully the clouds parted and the teams got to play in sunshine for most of the day.

The football on show was of the highest standard and all teams definitely deserved the burgers and treats served to them by the volunteers.  Each team played 4 games, and the spirit of friendship and respect was noticeable throughout. Well done to them all.

Big credit must go to the volunteers who made yesterday possible and showed our visitors what a strong community we have within our club.  Huge thanks also to our sponsors on the day:

  • George’s Butchers
  • The Pheasant Pub
  • GardenRooms.ie
  • DFDS Logistics
  • Numerous individual contributors

Niall Bennett acted as a wonderful Master of Ceremonies and kept everything on schedule whilst spinning the tunes via his PA system.  Eoin & Nigel Woods and our local Cois Farraige, (18th Meath), also generously donated the use of their large marquees for the day, which proved invaluable.

Days like yesterday are the memories our boys will have for life, and we’re already looking forward to doing it again next year.  Well done again to everyone involved!
