My Life Challenge #everystepcounts

Our step challenge ended last Wednesday night – and we have taken the Leinster title. Thank you to everyone who participated in the challenge.

“Really enjoying being able to continue to connect with the Cilles family virtually while training for the kids is on hold and contributing to the total steps during this challenge.

Also remote working instead of commuting so the walks are a great escape to clear the head from back to back Zooms/Teams/Webex and taking the time to enjoy our beautiful local surroundings. Overall a fantastic experience which I’m thoroughly enjoying – hope GAA start another challenge when this one concludes.”

“I joined the challenge after seeing an appeal on Facebook but if lockdown has taught me anything it is that I want to feel more a part of the community, so I have joined the club a a non playing member. Should have done it years ago. Hopefully when this ends, I can get to know some of you at the club.”

“For me it actually felt like your were part of the Colmcille’s club. I’ve had kids in the club for 10 years now but you never really feel part unless you are contributing. Over the last month it provided a real sense of purpose and filled the gap of competitive races.”

International Womens Day

Over 60 of our senior players and U16 girls were in attendance to hear the TG4 senior player of year Aimee Mackin speak. Not only did she win the main coveted award she also received the award for the 2020 goal of the year scored against Dublin in the semifinal. Quite an achievement from this player who suffered a severe cruciate injury in 2019.

The Shane O’Neills club player spoke about her continuing success with club and county and how she continues to strive to improve her performance on the field.

We were delighted to host this on International women’s day and Aimee is a true role model for all aspiring female players in any sport

Happy 50th Birthday

1971 was a good year – we all know the club turned 50 this year but so did Jack Black, Claire Murphy, Ray Finlay and Neil Cooney (Cooks). We’ll celebrate together when restrictions lift, but for now – Happy Birthday folks.
