Today it was announced that our own Biggy Reilly has followed Bob O’Malley to become the second St. Colmcilles man to Captain the Meath Team. Hopefully he’ll be as successful as Bob, who captained Meath to National league glory in 1994 against Armagh.
Biggy is no stranger to captaincy of course having led the U12 boys to league success in 2001 book-ending his underage success with captaincy of our U21 A championship winning side in 2010.
Graham joined the Meath panel as a minor in 2007. He has played in the 2007 and 2009 All Ireland Semi finals and was an All Star nominee in 2010 and in 2013, when he was also the Opel player of the month for June. He had the rather unique achievement of being man of the match in the Leinster minor (2006) and Leinster Senior (2010) finals and was named Meath Young Footballer of the year and Meath Footballer of the Year.
A great club worker, he also coached the ladies team to Junior A and B successes and is very popular on the GAA camp scene, coordinating our club camps and the Kellogg’s camps.
We will all be hoping we have a clean sweep of O’Byrne, National League, Leinster and All Ireland trophies at the seaside this year. They will look well with the All Ireland IFC title!!!
Well done Biggy!
