Meath LGFA League Division 2, Wednesday 22nd May 2019

St Colmcilles GAA Meath Cilles 16thman thetoughest

Cilles started quickly with points from Hannah, Cliona and Ash Dyer and two from TJ in the first 15 minutes.  Duleek/Bellewstown responded with four quick points to close the gap to one.  An injury to Saoirse brought Emma into the game in the 25th minute and her first touch was to pass to Cliona who calmly stroked the ball into the corner for the first goal of the game.  Emma then stretched to fist the ball over Monica into the Duleek/Bellewstown net.

Cilles ended the half ahead but Duleek/Bellewstown had created a lot of chances and Ciara in the Cilles goal had been kept very busy.

Cilles introduced four subs at half time and put intense pressure on Duleek/Bellewstown from the restart.  Cliona pointed three times and Ellie added another before Emma scored her second goal, with a superbly executed chip over the goalkeeper.  TJ and Ellie added further points before Duleek/Bellewstown registered their only point of the half.  Cilles brought on all of their subs who continued to press forward and closed out the game with points from Emma, Ash Dyer and Ash O’D who capped an amazing run from her half-back line into the Duleek/Bellewstown large square by taking her own free.

Cilles are now off the mark following this win and will look forward to the next round.
