Monday evening saw the U9s field their first ever team against Donaghmore Ashbourne in a Dual Games match.
The Cilles and Don Ash played two 20min hurling games and one 15min football game. Speaking to the U9s coaches after the game, Karl comments “on a fantastic display of skill and courage against a brilliant Ashbourne” while Shane reports “the kids enjoyed themselves and got stuck in which is the main thing…. and I think they learned a lot from the Ashbourne”.
Heading up the football element, Damien relays that “they were strong but all in all a good nights work “.
A huge well done to all of the children and coaches, Ashbourne were thrilled with the display, and have invited all the U9 boys to Ashbourne for another set of games soon! Thanks to the Young Whistler Referees also – Evan and James.
A very special mention to our Cilles Girls who turned up and gave it socks against some much bigger boys on the night. As you can see above, ‘though she be but little she is fierce’
