St. Colmcilles minor division 3 team travelled to Meath Hill on Saturday for a make or break fixture to decide who qualified for the semi final. On an exquisite pitch, especially for this time of year, cilles started slowly going down 4 points to 1 after ten minutes, albeit against the wind. The lads rallied, and led 3-3 to 0-7 at the break. Playing with the wind at our backs for the second half, the easy ride envisaged didn’t materialise. Drumcondrath / Meath Hill dug in and brought the game to the cilles. With 7 minutes to go it was a draw game but some great scores from cilles pushed us out in front again. Leading by a point in injury time the team were under real pressure but with one final push we crossed the finish line with a two point win. It was a great win with a mixture of under 15, 16 and 17 players. Our semi final opponents are our good neighbours and friends St Mary’s with the fixture set for next weekend weather permitting!!
