Colmcilles V Ratoath

23rd March Piltown

Ref Tommy McEnteggart

Final Score     Colmcilles 4-16 Simonstown 4-14        (After Extra Time )

Extended Epic Encounter in knockout stages of 2019 LMFMMinor League.

In contrast to previous rounds during the league games at Piltown conditions were perfect at Pairc Ui Ris Piltown for the Semi Final on Saturday afternoon.

A real semi final battle ensued in a real  semi final atmosphere, served up by two teak tough teams in great spirit. Ratoath came to Piltown off the back of a strong performance in group 1A to face the Cilles boys who topped group 1B. The healthy crowd were treated to a huge physical battle, with nothing between these two teams.

A well-organized physical group, Ratoath went behind in the first half but quickly took control in the second half. In a highly charged  finish to normal time, it was the bravery, determination, fitness and hard graft on show from the Cilles boys that dragged the game to extra time.

Colmcilles 3-13   Ratoath  3-13 (After Normal Time).

Cilles took the initiative in the first period of extra time going ahead. Ratoath were not to be outdone and countered well with an opportune goal to stay in contention.

Toward the latter stages of the second period. St Colmcille’swork rate excelled and the belief shown is now a feature of this group. Their fitness and work-rate extended right to the death tosee them deservedly into the LMFM League Final on Saturday week 6th April against Simonstown Gaels.
