It has been a great couple of weeks for our Saints Hurlers (St Colmcilles/St Pats combined team) who are currently competing in u15 and u13 Championship. The u13’s have set Roinn B on fire and are currently topping the table, with one match to play. In the last fortnight they have dug deep and fought hard to beat Loughcrew Gaels/Gaeil Colmcille (6-9 to 1-2)and Kilmessan (6-9 to 6-2), having previously beaten Drumree with a scoreline of (7-6 to 2-4). Coaches Hugh Reilly and David Wade have put a lot of work into these lads and its great to see the hard work paying off. These lads are guaranteed at least a semi-final place over the coming weeks but will be looking and aiming for the top spot. They certainly have the skills to do it, so let’s’ hope for a little luck and that they bring
home the silverware.
The U15’s have been training hard and dug deep and battled their way to victory against Drumree last weekend. Coach Damien O’Brien laid the groundwork with the older lads and John Paul Guidan has stepped up this year to hone their skills and give some of these lads their first win in some years. To say these lads showed resilience and persistence is an understatement. Bringing players together
across 2 age groups and 2 clubs is no easy feat but JP has built a team, who support and encourage each other and the shared joy of their recent win has only cemented the friendships that are growing amongst these lads every week. They rightly deserve to be proud of themselves and their recent win. They are looking forward to continuing this winning streak and if the ball can bounce our way, they will, like the U13’s, also have a semi-final spot booked in the coming weeks.
