Wednesday the 26th of July brought Moynalvey and St. Colmcilles together for the second time this year. This time to compete in the intermediate championship in Moynalvey.
The stakes were high as this was a must win game for both teams.
Moynalvey the stronger team to start but once the cilles settled they knotched it up a gear and solidified a lead with 5 goals from lively forwards. Emma Brophy and Niamh Doggett proving difficult to manage. The first half finished with cilles in a strong position with a lead of 5-5 to 0-3.
Cilles pushed on in the second half and continued to lead knocking in two more goals. Substitutes brought on added to the cilles strength and their scoreline. The last ten minutes were tough with moynalvey fighting back. However, the cilles backs held on led by Aisling O’Donnell and Orla Deegan.
The game finished 7-10 to 1-9, a good win for the Cilles
