The U13 Saints Green have Progressed to Division 2 League Final after a hard fought Semifinal win over Loughcrew Gaels/Gael Colmcille on a score line of 3-4 to 1-1
The Saints entered the game as favourites having beaten Loughcrew in the group stages. The Saints have been playing a brand of free flowing hurling with their scores coming from several different sources. Loughcrew had done the homework after the previous match and arrived in Stamullen with a much changed line up from the group game. The opening exchanges were tight and Loughcrew were first to get on the scoreboard. Although the Saints were playing into the wind they managed to get in at half time 3-1 to 1-1 ahead. Loughcrew then proceeded to park the bus for the second half, their goals was lead a charmed life. The Saints tagged on 3 more points to close out the game.
It was the perfect backdrop for 2 of our younger Saints to present Pat Haigney (Cilles) and John Finnegan (Pats) with a Saints Jersey to thank them both as representatives of their clubs for the support both clubs have shown in promoting and facilitating the development of the Saints teams. The players, coaches and future Saints are all very grateful for the support and are looking forward to seeing just how strong hurling in East Meath can become.
They now play Kilmessan in the final, which will be played on tomorrow night in Stamullen,
throw-in 6:30pm
