Cilles emerged from Martry with their second league win after a one-sided game in which 10 players shared 18 scores.

Ultans opened the scoring in the first minute but thereafter the blues defense were solid throughout the game.  Tracking runners, screening the scoring zone and superb tacking limited the opportunities for Ultans to score and provided the platform for repeated Cilles attacks.

Ash Dyer pointed for Cilles before captain Grainne topped her storming run from wing back with a goal, a cool finish into the corner.  Ash pointed again before Ultans replied with two points.  Emma’s point from a near-impossible angle had everyone checking with the umpire.  Three CIlles goals followed from Emma, Cliona and Laura after sustained pressure.   Ultans had to work very hard to secure two more points, both frees.  Cilles ended the half with two points each from Hannah and Ash (1f).

Both teams fought hard and ensured a tense opening nine minutes before Meg fisted over the bar for her first point for the senior team.  Ash again secured a point from a free before sub Niamh hammered into the net.  Cilles won the kick-out and some slick passing fed Ash who scored Cilles sixth goal.  Ultans pointed from a free before two points each for Ellie and Ash and one from Sheena wrapped up the action.

A vital league win for Cilles on a tough night for Ultans
