St Colmcilles ‘A’ out-gunned in first round of the league

Meath GAA St Colmcilles St Colmcilles Ladies Football
Cilles started best and were two points to the good after the first 10 minutes.  A sweet cross-field pass from Saoirse (see photo below) and a fine finish into the bottom corner from Cliona had Cilles hopes high.  However, Seneschalstown’s defence prevented any further Cilles scores and gave the platform for their own dominant spell to finish the half 1 point to the good.

The second half was dominated by Seneschalstown, with Stacey Grimes to the fore.  Two early goals ensured the win.  Cilles fought to the end with Meg rattling the crossbar and Emma ruffling the defenders before Hannah C and Cliona pointed.  Caoimhe contributing the point of the game late in the half from wide on the left.

(THAT through ball from Saorise McPeake, sweet lord!)

Seneschalstown were deserved winners but Cilles will give most teams in the league a stern challenge.  Congratulations to the Cilles players making their senior team debuts: Ashling, Caitlin, Caoimhe, Karolina, Katie and Meg.  The future is definitely Blue! Cilles Abu!
