FT: St Colmcilles B  3.9   Seneschalstown B  3.2

HT: St Colmcilles B  3.5   Seneschalstown B  0.2

After building an early lead and dominating the first half, Cilles were pushed all the way in the second half before securing the vital win.

Keri pointed for Cilles to open the scoring after 2 minutes, Sheena then showed her soccer skills to stroke the ball past the goalkeeper a minute later.  Saoirse added another goal in the 7thafter some stout defending allowed Tara to propel Cilles to sweep upfield.  Seneschalstown quickly notched two points in reply.  Sheena picked her spot to convert a penalty and further points from Saoirse (2) (including the score of the day from wide on the right), Deanna, and Keri capped a very good first half display for Cilles.

Cilles opened the second-half scoring with a storming run from Sabhin in midfield ending with an excellent point from Cliodhna, Sheena adding another shortly afterwards and Dearbhail’s point after charging forward from half-back raised a huge cheer.  Eamon had said at half-time that Seneschalstown are never beaten until the final whistle and three goals for Seneschalstown in 19 minutes narrowed the gap to six points and added spice to the last ten minutes.  Last-ditch tackles were needed from Dearbhail, Saoirse, Enya and Caoimhe to shut-out Seneschalstown for the remainder.  Keri’s third point was the last act of a thrilling match.

Cilles showed no hangover from their first round disappointment and will build from today’s performance.

Seneschalstown will recover and will also surely contest for a place in the semi-finals.
