St Colmcilles ladies div2 team record emphatic win over O’Mahoneys in second round of the league.
FT St Colmcilles 4:12 O’Mahoneys 2:3
HT St Colmcilles 2:5 O’Mahoneys 2:1
St Colmcilles had conceded home advantage due to the weather affected pitches on the coast and travelled to O’Mahoneys superb new pitches on the Trim Road. A strong Cilles defence limited scoring opportunities for O’Mahoneys. The game was closely fought throughout the first half before Cilles pulled away with a second half scoring blitz to seal the win.
Cilles got the perfect start with a goal from Natalie Davitt in the 2nd minute. Further points from Emma Brophy, Hannah Tobin Jones, Cliona Smith and two from Lauren Collier followed, along with a goal from Dawn O’Reilly in the 16th minute. O’Mahoney’s two goals and a pointed free saw the first half close 2:5 to 2:1 for Cilles.
O’Mahoneys early point of the second half was followed quickly by a Cilles pointed free from Cliona Smith. Points from play for Orla Deegan, Emma Brophy and Hannah Tobin Jones stretched the lead to seven points. O’Mahoney’s scored just one further point before two quick Cilles goals in the 17th and 18th minutes from substitute Ashling Dyer (on for Emma Brophy) and Cliona Smith ensured there could be no come back. Cilles scored three further points from Hannah TJ, Lauren Collier and Ashling Dyer to finish the game and claim the first win in the league for St. Colmcilles.
