The Cilles u8 Boys hosted their first ever Blitz on Sunday afternoon in Piltown in what was a lovely afternoon weather wise. The three Cilles teams served up some excellent football and have come on great strides this year. In total 16 teams played in the Blitz. We welcomed teams from Castleknock, Fingal Ravens from Dublin; Glen Emmetts from Louth; St Ultans/Cortown, Donaghmore Ashbourne and Simonstownfrom Meath.
We were blessed that the weather was great throughout given the rain over this last week. Each team played 4 games and all displayed great skills and epitomised all that is great in our GAA games.
Big thanks to all the parents who brought cakes and sandwiches and all the fantastic volunteers who helped out on the day, including those on car parking duty, those on kitchen and barbeque duty (too many to name & we’d be afraid to leave someone out!).
Special word of thanks to Niall Bennett covering the PA system, who expertly kept everything running smoothly andto schedule. Thanks also to Mark Gallagher and Pat Haigney for helping throughout the day and special thanks to Pat for presenting each player with their medal.
Also special thanks to our four young whistlers who all excelled on the day and who all were great, Rachel Callan, Tadgh Bennett, Evan Morgan and Adam Daly.
Also big thanks to our sponsors B & S Training Services, who have been fantastic in getting behind us with their support in running this Blitz.
Finally great credit and thanks to all the coaches who invest such time, energy, passion and commitment into coaching the kids.
We hope all the lads will have great memories from today and we hope they will have plenty more enjoyable days playing for the Cilles!!
