The sharp end of the intermediate championship and two teams with claims for the last semi-final spot emerged battered, bruised and very tired with honours shared but both having suffered a real blow to their hopes for a place in the semi-finals.
Cilles started brightly with a Hannah Connell goal in the 5th minute matched by Clann’s reply two minutes later directly from a free.  Emma Brophy’s goal and points from Allanah Boland and Tess O’Neill after a typical surging run from the wing were met with two points and a goal on the 22nd minute from Clann.  Cilles immediately replied when Alannah added a goal in the 23rd minute after a move upfield that passed through the hands of several Cilles players. Clann added their third goal in injury time and again Alannah replied with the last point of the half.  A tough and engaging half with nothing to separate the teams.

Cilles came out a started very quickly, registering three points, two from Cliona Smith and one for Hannah Connell by the 3rd minute.  Clann appeared to be showing the effects of their camogie semi-final played just 24 hours earlier.  A yellow card on Clann’s No.10 forced them into a very defensive strategy for the next period and they held Cilles out until Hannah Connell’s sweet strike into the net in the 9th minute put Cilles 6 points clear.  This was Cilles only score during the yellow card period.  Clann then went on to score 1.2 before Cliona Smith pointed for Cilles last score of the game in the 24th minute.  Clann drew level with a point in the 30th minute.  However the drama wasn’t over and in the final act Cilles were awarded a controversial free that rebounded off the post and away to safety for Clann.
