The 2008 boys (U11’s) made the long trek to Enfield on Mothers Day to play Na Fianna in the first round of the U12 League Roinn C. Their was a bite in the air and fair breeze with our twin teams playing with the elements and the downhill slope in the first half. Both our ‘White’ and ‘Navy’ teams were up against a powerful and fast home team but picked off some brilliant long range scores and linked up play well. Our U11’s are playing against older U12 teams to assist their game and skill development in preparation for playing in this League in their ‘own year’ in 2020. Our White team built up a sizeable lead by half time with the other game just edged by the hosts. Facing into the breeze in the second half saw the boy’s really battle it out and show a will to never give up. The energy sapping conditions saw Na Fianna tag on some crucial scores to edge out the Cilles boys by 32 to 29. All our players will take crucial learnings from this game against a very mobile and tall Enfield outfit. The long term goal is to be competitive at all times and the boy’s showed that today. Next up Rd 3 of Go Games at home to Walterstown mid week.
