St Colmcilles Kit Launch
JUNE 18TH, 2020
St Colmcilles are proud to officially unveil our new club jerseys. Our Blue, Navy and White jerseys are now available to buy at the Club Shop and on the O'Neills website.
As a growing club we understand the importance of preparing for the future and remembering the past. We recently unveiled an artists mural on the clubhouse wall which portrays beautiful imagery inspired by local legend and fact. In the mural, Laogh (after whom Laytown was named) can be seen wearing the Tara Brooch which was found on Bettystown Beach. The brooch is one of the finest and most significant pieces of archaeological history to be unearthed in this country of ours and we felt it necessary to remind ourselves of the same rich history synonymous with our area. Overseeing Laogh inside the Star of the Sea is a representation of Voyager, the beautiful artwork seen in Laytown. Voyager looks to the Irish Sea and is a stunning creation by Irish artist Linda Brunker. We thought it fitting to draw the ancient brooch and contemporary sculpture on our new club jerseys, past and present represented visually.
While the blue jersey will always be our 'Home Kit' the navy and white have become part of our recent history and are here to stay. This year we were delighted to welcome MG Business Advisory Limited on board as the Official Sponsor of our Adult Men's and Ladies Teams for the next 3 years. MG Business Advisory Limited are a local Accountancy & Taxation Practice, providing services to businesses and private individuals but to put a more familiar face on them it is simply Mark and Maria Gibbons who's children play football with the Cilles. Local people who have committed to our brilliant, vibrant club! As part of the sponsorship agreement, MG Business Advisory Limited will have their logo prominently displayed on the adult team's jerseys and will also have a presence on the organisation's website and social media channels.
Our new jerseys will now become the club jerseys which means that any new kit ordered for any age group will be in this design with the relevant sponsors logo across the front and sleeve. This will allow us consolidate the Cilles identity as there are many many versions of Cilles jerseys in existence.
Some interesting points to note about these jerseys and why they are special. They were designed by members of the club FOR members of the club. The jerseys directly represent the area in which we live and were sponsored by Cilles Club Members! Linda Brunker gave special permission for the club to use the image of Voyager on the white jersey which was painstakingly drawn by a Cilles Member! We would like to give a warm thank you to Linda who has now created a number of art pieces for our area.
We are seeing many of these jerseys popping up all over East Meath and its a joy to see. We will advertise the club shop a couple of days in advance of its opening.
